Privacy Policy

SnagLedger (https://snagledger.com) is a gaming deals website run by an individual based in India. That person is responsible for the personal information described in this policy. Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, that makes them the "Data Fiduciary". In this policy, "SnagLedger" means the site and its operator.

The short version: SnagLedger collects very little. It doesn't use advertising cookies, doesn't build profiles of visitors, and does not sell or share your personal information.

1. What SnagLedger collects and why

WhatWhenWhy
Analytics data: pages viewed, buttons clicked, referring site, browser type, device type, countryWhen you visitTo see which pages and deals are useful, including how often the "Buy on Amazon" buttons are clicked. The analytics tool (Umami) is cookieless. It doesn't identify you or follow you across other sites. Any IP address is used only to estimate your country and isn't stored with the analytics data
Server and security logs: IP address, date/time, page requested, browser user agentWhen you visitTo keep the site running, fix errors and block abuse
Messages you send: your name, email address and what you writeWhen you email SnagLedger or use a contact formTo reply to you

SnagLedger doesn't ask for sensitive information, such as health, financial or government ID details. Please don't send it.

SnagLedger doesn't use your information for automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.

SnagLedger may add an email newsletter later. If it does, this policy will be updated before then.

2. Cookies

SnagLedger doesn't use advertising or tracking cookies. See the Cookie Policy for details.

3. Amazon

Many links on SnagLedger go to Amazon.com or Amazon.ca. Amazon is a third party. Amazon can receive some information about your visit to SnagLedger even if you never click a link, because product images and, where enabled, the Amazon OneLink script are loaded from Amazon's servers (see "Third-party scripts and images" in section 4).

When you click one of these links, Amazon sets its own cookies and may collect information about your visit and purchases. That includes recording that you arrived from SnagLedger, so the commission can be credited. Amazon's own privacy notice covers the data Amazon collects, not this policy. SnagLedger doesn't receive your name, address, payment details or order history from Amazon. Amazon's reports to SnagLedger only show totals, such as the number of clicks and items ordered, and never identify individual customers.

4. Service providers

SnagLedger uses a small number of service providers to run the site. They process data on its behalf and are contractually bound to protect it.

  • Cloudflare hosts the site (Cloudflare Pages). Traffic to the site passes through Cloudflare, which processes your IP address and request details to deliver pages and block attacks.
  • Umami (cloud.umami.is) provides the site's analytics. A script loaded from Umami's servers records the page viewed and clicks on Amazon buttons, without cookies and without identifying you.

Third-party scripts and images

Some content on SnagLedger pages is loaded directly from Amazon's servers rather than from SnagLedger's own server. When your browser loads it, Amazon receives information from your browser, as with any website you connect to. Amazon handles that information under its own privacy notice.

  • Amazon product images. Product photos are shown straight from Amazon's image servers (such as m.media-amazon.com and images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com), as Amazon's rules require. When a page with a product image loads, Amazon receives your IP address, your browser's user agent and the address of the page.
  • Amazon OneLink (when enabled). SnagLedger may use Amazon OneLink, a script loaded from amazon-adsystem.com on every page. It sends Amazon your IP address, your browser's user agent and the address of the page, so it can work out your country and point links to your local Amazon store (for example, Amazon.ca for visitors in Canada). Amazon may read or set its own cookies in your browser when the script loads.

SnagLedger may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the site, its users or its rights.

5. International transfers

SnagLedger is operated from India, and its service providers may store or process data in other countries, including the United States, Canada and the European Union. Wherever your data is processed, SnagLedger takes reasonable steps to protect it, including by choosing reputable providers. Under Canadian law, data held in another country may be accessible to that country's courts and authorities.

6. How long data is kept

DataHow long
Server and security logsUp to 30 days, longer only if needed to investigate abuse
AnalyticsTotals with no personal details, kept indefinitely
Emails and contact messagesUp to 24 months after the conversation ends

7. Security

SnagLedger uses HTTPS throughout, keeps its server and software up to date, limits access to its accounts and uses strong authentication. No website is perfectly secure, though. If a data breach affects your personal information, SnagLedger will notify you and the relevant authorities as the law requires.

8. Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask SnagLedger to:

  • tell you what personal information it holds about you and give you a copy
  • correct it
  • delete it
  • withdraw any consent you gave

To make a request, contact [email protected]. SnagLedger may need to confirm your identity first. You'll get a response within 30 days, or sooner if your local law requires it. There's no charge, and you won't be treated differently for using your rights. If a request is refused, you'll be told why.

United States (including California)

These notices apply to residents of California and other US states with consumer privacy laws, including Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah and Texas. Some of these laws may not formally apply to a site this size, but SnagLedger follows the same approach anyway.

  • Categories collected (from section 1): identifiers (email address, IP address), internet activity (pages viewed, referring site), approximate location (country), and the content of messages you send. These are collected directly from you or your browser, for the purposes in section 1.
  • SnagLedger does not sell or share your personal information, as "sell" and "share" are defined in the California Consumer Privacy Act (as amended by the CPRA), and hasn't done so in the past 12 months. It doesn't use your information for targeted (cross-context behavioural) advertising or profiling.
  • SnagLedger doesn't collect or use sensitive personal information to infer things about you.
  • Global Privacy Control: SnagLedger honours GPC browser signals as an opt-out of sale/sharing, although it doesn't sell or share in the first place.
  • Your rights: to know or access, delete and correct your personal information, to opt out of sale/sharing and targeted advertising, and not to be discriminated against for using these rights. You can use an authorised agent. Where your state's law gives you a right to appeal a decision, reply to the response to appeal it. If the appeal is denied, you can contact your state Attorney General.
  • Retention: see section 6.

Canada

SnagLedger handles personal information in line with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). It collects only what it needs for the purposes above, and uses it only with your consent or as the law allows. You can ask to access or correct your information, or withdraw your consent, at any time. The site's operator is responsible for privacy compliance and can be reached at [email protected]. If you're not satisfied with the response, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (priv.gc.ca).

India

SnagLedger processes digital personal data under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and its Rules. It does so on the basis of your consent or for legitimate uses the Act allows (for example, keeping the site secure or replying to a message you sent). Your rights include:

  • getting a summary of your personal data and how it's processed
  • correcting, completing, updating or erasing it
  • withdrawing consent. Withdrawing is as easy as giving it, and doesn't affect processing that has already happened.
  • nominating someone to exercise your rights if you die or become incapacitated
  • grievance redressal: send complaints to the grievance contact at [email protected]. If your complaint isn't resolved, you can approach the Data Protection Board of India.

9. Children

SnagLedger is meant for adults. It doesn't knowingly collect personal information from children: under 13 in the US (COPPA), or under 18 in India (DPDP Act). If you think a child has given SnagLedger their information, contact [email protected] and it will be deleted.

10. Changes to this policy

SnagLedger will update this page when its practices change and revise the effective date at the top. If a change is significant, a notice will also be posted on the site.
